A call to unite in prayer for Syria

Bishop Kevin J. Farrell joins the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops in urging U.S. Catholics to take up Pope Francis’ call to fast and pray for peace in Syria, the Middle East and the world Sept. 7.

Several parishes within the Diocese of Dallas are answering that call.

St. Ann Catholic Church in Coppell will hold a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Syria, the Middle East, and throughout the world. Activities will get under way from 7 to 8:30 p.m. with recitation of Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious and Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary; followed by quiet prayer from 9 to 10:30 p.m.; a Holy Hour with the Blessed Sacrament from 10:30 to 11:30 p.m. and more prayer from 11:30 to midnight.

St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church will have two hours of prayer beginning at 7 p.m. Sept. 7. There will be exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Benediction, hymns, scripture readings and prayer.

Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Plano will offer a vigil for peace beginning at noon and ending with Benediction at 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 7.

Mater Dei Catholic Church will have Eucharistic adoration for peace in Syria and the Middle East from noon to 5:15 p.m. Sept. 7.

St. Cecilia Catholic Church will a special hour of prayer following the 8 a.m. Mass.

 

Check with your local parish for times of any special Masses or prayer services.
